Las Vegas Tips on Transportation

Getting around Las Vegas tips and information

You have many way's to get around  from the airport to hotel in Las Vegas. A few different Las Vegas Shuttle buses companies that run from the airport to hotel, the cost is $7.00 to Strip hotels and $9 to downtown hotels per person, I have to tell you though, it can take some time depending on which stop is yours, if your stop is last, it can take up to an hour. I'd say find out what stop you would be before you pay anybody anything.

Las Vegas Transportation by Limousines

How big you like your Limousine, well, that depends on you. Expect to spend $55 to $65 and up. Flat rate, tip not included.

Las Vegas Taxi Cabs

Las Vegas Taxi's rates from the airport will cost you about $15 - $20 to Strip hotels and over $22- $25 to downtown hotels, give or take a dollar or two. Buyer be aware, like many business, we don't want to single anybody out, are less then honest, the same holds true here. Just say, "I don't know which way you were going to go, but can we "please" not go though the tunnel, this can run your bill up another $5 dollars or more.

Las Vegas Transportation by Monorail

Las Vegas Monorail runs on the back side of the strip ( East of Las Vegas Blvd.) I would say the monorail is good only if your staying at one of it's stops, otherwise you going to be walking a half of a mile or so just to get on the monorail. It starts at the MGM and make's stop's at Paris Hotel, Bally's

 Hotel, Flamingo Hotel, Harrah's Hotel,

Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas Hilton and the Sahara Hotel. Last time I checked, it was $5 one way per person, it's a better deal if you buy a day pass. And, of course, we have the bus. Not bad if there is no traffic, but when is that?

Las Vegas Tips on Tipping

Craps table and Blackjack:

I have to be honest with you on this one. I don't gamble, but I can tell you if I was paying craps and winning, I'd tip something like 10 for winning 100 and 50 after winning 1000, at the same time, I believe in order for one to receive, one has to give.

From the worst to the best:

Two quick stories for you. Years ago at the Desert Inn Hotel, the guy playing craps won "one million dollars" and tip this dealer "Zero" dollars. Are you kidding me!

Another, he was the richest guy from Australia, his name, Kerry Packer, he "won" 10 million playing Blackjack and tip the dealer "one" million bucks!

Point is, always do what you think is right!

Cocktail Waitresses: Drinks are free while you're gambling. Usually give the cocktail waitress a $1 chip or $1 slot coin each time she brings you a drink, that's if you ever want her to come back.

Shuttle bus drivers: The standard for airport shuttle bus drivers is $1 or $2 a bag.

Bellman: $1 to $2 a bag is the norm.

Maid: I leave a $5 tip each day. If it's going to be the same maid everyday, I always like to give all on the first day, three days, then I give 15 on the first day, seems to get things done fast.

Room Service: Can never go wrong with 15%, but was it fast, or did you wait a hour and a half...........?

Buffet waiters/waitresses: The buffets usually have waiters or waitresses bring you your drinks, and refills are no problem. I tip $2 to $5 depending on the service.

Las Vegas Transportation by Cabbies: 23% is the normal rate but you may want to add a couple bucks if you ask for advice on a good place to play or eat. Minus if you think it was a bad experience.

In the 90's the IRS went after all workers in the service industry. Most had to sign forms with the IRS and have their tips automatically added to their gross salary. They pay taxes on tips whether they get it or not.
